Mexico Travel Diary | Part I

This has been the year of Mexico for John and I. We somehow managed to get through winter with quite a few days spent in the sunshine and no one is complaining over here, especially this Texan. The beginning of our trip was a reward trip for my husband and we look forward to this trip every year. Always a great time to spend with the entire family and the trip is pretty much handled in terms of logistics.

We spent 5 days at the Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmerelda property. The resort was actually broken up into two parts, all adults on one side, and family friendly on the other. The resort side we were staying at was La Esmerelda, the adults only “La Perla“. They are mirror images of one another with a simple hallway dividing the two and a sign stating no children beyond this point. This resort would be ideal if you do have children, big pirate ship for climbing and slides, loads of pools and cabanas for naps, great spring break spot!

Our favorite shop was the Illy coffee counter to start the day caffeinated, followed by a big breakfast and a walk on the beach. I was quite impressed with our dinners, lots of great fish, and we had one bread and cheese dip that was out of this world. Plenty of drinks and enough chips and guac to keep a small army satisfied!

We took a taxi to town (cost about $10) and did a little shopping and walking around 5th Street. If you aren’t at an all-inclusive, this is a fun place to eat out and try new restaurants, bars, relax and people watch. There are loads of pretty places to dine and I found the cutest shop filled with the Mexican hearts I collect! The owner told us about her family and the history of the shop then gave us each tequila shots, ha!

Evenings included cocktail receptions and I love a good glass of bubbles, apps, and a little dress! Cold shoulders seemed to be the theme of this trip. Not to mention fabulous swimsuits! I had so many questions about this SUIT, SKIRT, SANDALS, HAT and this COVERUP!! I am linking everything for you below so let me know if you have any questions about the wardrobe, beachwear, or the resort!  I am always happy to help.

Lots of images and links to products from this trip are all below. Big shout out to my husband for being an all-star and taking all of these fabulous photos! Also huge thank you to the many partners who have continued to support and love C+M!  Part II on Tulum to follow soon and there might be a surprise giveaway that you won’t want to miss…
