If you haven’t been to Austin, Texas definitely start making your travel plans now. I grew up an hour outside of Austin, and as an adult I missed out on this little gem of a city and all its weird charm. My husband visited for the first time and really loved the vibe, culture and overall scene.
We decided to bail on a hotel, and found a little escape in this tree filled house in South Austin. When you wake up, you wake up in the trees, and it feels a bit like a modern grown up’s tree-house. It is quaint and owner, Desirae and her mother Cynthia, did a fantastic job hosting us. We felt right at home upon arrival with a grand and big warm Texas welcome by the little tribe of 4 whippets who reside on property. The house and property are in pristine shape, the pool is a dream, backyard has a beautiful koi pond, outdoor seating options, and offers a true garden feel if you are looking to relax and enjoy the view. We loved sitting at the rooftop patio pictured below and sipping a glass of wine and spent an entire afternoon at the pool with music and drinks.
South Congress is a stones throw away (they keep 2 bikes on property for your use) and we hit all the spots you could squeeze in while having evening commitments and attending a dear friend’s wedding. Notable places to go in SoCo: Snackbar, San Jose Hotel, Perla’s, Guero’s Taco Bar, Off The Wall, Tersoros Trading Company, Hey Cupcake! (get the Michael Jackson).
