Looking for a destination filled with white sand beaches, dolphins, sunshine, and all the water slides your heart can desire? I have just visited Fort Myers, Florida, with my whole crew, and everyone is asking when we can go back. If you have traveled to Florida, you know the breathtaking sunsets are some of the best in the country. It is a short flight for those sun seekers looking for domestic travel and for all the moms who need to get their kids off and on a flight as quickly as possible.
Partnering with Visit Fort Myers to spread awareness of Southwest Florida’s beauty and nature is easy. Southwest Florida offers many activities and excursions, such as shopping, restaurants, shelling, and, most importantly, white sand beaches.
After a busy summer of on-the-go, a hotel stay was much needed, and we spent four fun-filled days at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Hotel in Bonita Springs. The hotel is a short twenty-minute drive from Fort Myers Airport. A one-stop destination, this hotel has so much to offer: water slides, tube slides, a lazy river, activities throughout the day for kiddos, hair braiding, lawn games, smores at the fire pits, a coffee shop, ice cream truck, and plenty of food and drinks.
We spent most days just floating around the lazy river. It was the perfect height for our four-year-old to feel independent, and we were all obsessed with it. Our six-year-old wanted to do the slides over and over with Dad. There was never a dull moment, and if you are looking for a getaway with younger ones, they offer a kiddie area with a smaller slide and an under 42″ slide for those not quite tall enough to make the taller options!
The Hyatt Coconut Point also offers a lovely ferry service. It is a fifteen-minute boat ride through Estero Bay, where you can watch manatees and dolphins. The hotel offers umbrellas and chairs for its guests. We spent the morning shelling and swimming and jumped back on the ferry to the hotel just in time for lunch. There is also a high-speed ferry to Key West if you want to get away for the day!
One noteworthy meal was at Tarpon Bay, located inside Coconut Point, and let me tell you, I am still dreaming about that meal. Everything, including the wine selections, was top-notch. I had the yummiest parmesan-crusted salmon with risotto and asparagus. Trust me, it’s worth the visit.
We spent two beautiful evenings at Little Hickory Island Beach Park. It is a short drive from The Coconut Point, and plenty of parking is available. The sunsets, as you can see, were breathtaking. We grabbed pizza and a bottle of wine and let the kids swim and play while the sun was setting, and it was one of my all-time favorite moments of our trip. The pack of dolphins swimming a few feet before us was most memorable.
We are already planning a winter escape back to this property and have told our friends and family what a quick and successful getaway this trip was for all. I could barely get my kids to leave on our last day; I had to promise we would return for the lazy river in the future!
Thank you to Visit Fort Myers for having us and giving us many wonderful memories while we visited Southwest Florida. We still have so much to see, and I can’t wait to explore the area more. Have you been to this area? Tell me your must-see destinations in the comments.
Until next time, Florida,
Tamara
