Someone asked me recently, “So what is your vision for 2016 with C + M?” Hmmmm….I don’t know what my vision is for 5 hours from now? And then suddenly 2016 is here and it is a brand new year. A time where nostalgia fills the air, lists get pulled up and marked off and refreshed. I love the idea of a brand new beginning. The idea that you can be whoever you want to be and the fact that we live in a place that allows us to be dreamers, believers, and doers.
2015 was a year of firsts for me and my little family. Last night as we danced in our bedroom watching the countdown on TV with Ryan Seacrest I felt like the whole world was at my finger tips. Like I could literally fly if I wanted to. That was probably just my buzz from the champagne talking to my head but I felt so much right then. So much good. I haven’t felt that way in a long time.
I want to hold on to that feeling. Find a way to bottle it and pull it out as the year goes on, when the winter increases, the days drag on, when I am doubting myself. I want a reminder that I cannot do it all, that perfection is boring, I am only one human being, and I need to take it one day at a time. What are my NY resolutions for 2016? Where do I want to see things go for myself and for C+M? Honest? The truth is that I’m still working on the final answer. I’m still making those lists, still hoping to do as much as possible, still mapping it all out.
I laid in bed this morning with a million thoughts running through my head. And what kept presenting itself was not the newness but what did I learn in 2015 that I most want to bring along with me to the year ahead. I have a little daily devotional book that I enjoy reading every morning the lessons seem to soften my heart as I approach each day and my reading for Jan 1. said, “Do not cling to old ways as you step into new year ahead“. What a subtle reminder as we ring in 2016.
Here is my humble list below:
- Take No Life for Granted
- Compare Less
- Volunteer
- Constantly challenge myself to try new things
- Say I Love you loudly & often
- Keep Moments just for my personal memory
- Learn something new every single day
- Pick up the phone more
- Listen
- Stop stressing about the things I cannot control
Wishing you a healthy, glowing and happy 2016. Thank you to the vendors involved in making these beautiful images.
