The holidays are upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. Nothing brings us more joy than planning where our family is heading next, and I can tell you it is a topic we don’t take lightly! We travel most often as a family and have learned more tips and tricks over the last few years from our mistakes! Whether traveling with people or solo, a few must-have items can make or break your travel experience.
WEIGH YOUR LUGGAGE – Our luggage scale is the only item we won’t leave home without. When I watch distressed families on the floor repacking and agonizing over their suitcases, I want to hand them my little handheld scale. It is the best ten dollars you can spend!
STALK YOUR BAGS – We also never leave our bags without a tile. Every single bag has one, so no matter what, we have that extra piece of mind knowing where our bags landed. Tile is a Bluetooth tracker that helps you track your items, and we use it on everything from our keys to our luggage. It’s a great stocking stuffer item, too!
LESS IS MORE – We are the less is more traveler – we like to be as streamlined as possible, and you cannot predict what the airlines, the weather, or your family might have in store for you! Kids are messy and busy, so everyone has one dedicated carry-on backpack that fits under the seat. The boys each have extra clothes, a sweater, a pack of uno or go-fish cards, a water bottle, snacks, entertainment, headphones, + a refillable water bottle. I cannot tell you how often we have been delayed or stuck at an airport. If you do nothing else, bring more snacks than you think and an iPad or Gameboy!
LUGGAGE MATTERS -go for the hard-side luggage. Anything being checked does not need to be fancy! Have you watched the baggage handler tossing your bag into a pile of bags? Yeah, daunting!
