I love decorating, I love hosting, and I love being home! If you know someone like this, welcome to the gift guide of your dreams! I often hear that I am hard to buy for which always baffles me because hello neutrals, warm cozy things, mercury, candles, gold, blush, and anything you might find in a Scandinavian country! What is so hard about that? No, trust me, they are right. I am hard to buy for because I like what I like, and I hate what I don't! I'm sure some can relate! If you have someone like me on your list. Stop. Drop. Get ready to Shop!
It's 7:30 pm, and as I currently type this, everyone is in bed. The whole house is quiet, the dishwasher is humming, lights are turned off, dogs fed, toys put away, but if you told me it was midnight, I would believe you. If you walked into our house right now, you would feel peace and calm if you walked in eight hours prior, not so much. Our days start early, and my body, my back, and my head have never felt more tired. That mom life is no joke. No book or schooling can quite prepare you for the journey that is motherhood. You feel it all. This tiny person who grew so snugly in your womb is now such a big piece of your heart you can't imagine life without them. But there are the growing pains, the messes, the learning, the teething, the constant mama's. It is one giant beautiful mess.
Oh, my goodness, the holidays are almost here! If you scrolled through Instagram in the past week, it would appear Santa is already on the way! Christmas garlands and trees, ornaments, and gift guides have already begun! How is it already this time of year? What about entertaining? Anyone else has upcoming guests spreading the cheer with you? Well, if so, there are only fifty days until Santa comes down the chimney! I live for this season. That is absolutely no secret, and I have to hold myself back from decorating earlier and earlier each year. We have guests arriving this week and the following, and then we will have a revolving door of visitors once our little man makes his debut!
If you have been following along with us then you know how much I love this child and how much I love a good party! This birthday was one of my all-time favorite parties to plan and I wish we could do it all over again! The balloon garlands, animal party hats, cake, cookies, ice cream, and all of our wonderful friends and family who have lifted us up through this first year made this one unforgettable day. One we will cherish forever.
Let me start this post by saying whoa. The woman's body is mind-blowingly impressive, and for one, I had no idea I was capable of making it a full year around the sun with breastfeeding. I will also say that it was one of the hardest things I have ever done and yet I would do it again. I sat down to write this post over fifteen times that I can recall, so there were many more than that when you factor in the mom brain that I am currently rocking!
